According to the Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert, the teams securing less than 40 points in the Premier League this season might also end up surviving.
Generally, it is believed that 40 is the magic number that the teams need to get in order to stay in the league, but, Lambert believes that the number is going to be a bit lower this time around.
Villa is not looking in danger of relegation at the moment though. They are at the 12th position in the league table with 34 points and they still have to play 7 more games. So, one can assume them going past that number of 40 pretty easily.
Currently, the teams which are in the bottom 3 in the league points table are Cardiff City, Sunderland and Fulham. These teams are separated by 1 point only.
Fulham which is right at the last position has got 24 points, while, Sunderland and Cardiff have got 25 and 26 respectively. If you think that Fulham might stay up it might be worth taking up our partner’s £100 Welcome Bonus – Bet now!
The team which is closest to the relegation zone is West Bromwich Albion. They have only 29 points in the bag and they can find themselves in the bottom 3 pretty soon if they don’t raise their game.
Talking to the reporters about relegation, Lambert said, “I don’t think that the teams will have to get to 40 to save themselves from relegation this season.”
“There are some difficult games coming up for every team including ourselves. Let’s wait and see how things unfold. As far as we are concerned, we will try and perform up to the best of our abilities in the remaining matches and hope for the best.”
Aston Villa’s next league game is against Fulham on the 5th of the next month. That will be a home game for them.
